Will Eisner Google Logo

Featured on today's Google home page is a special comic book like icon for Will Eisner's 94th birthday.

Will Eisner was born on March 6, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York and died on January 3, 2005 at the age of 87. Today he would have been 94 years old. Eisner was a cartoonist, known as one of the people contributing to the cartoon and graphic novel industry.

The logo on Google's home page is based of one of his most famous works, The Spirit, which was a crime fighting character who first appeared in June 2, 1940. Another notable title of his was named A Contract with God.

Will Eisner had an award that paid tribute to him. It is named the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, also known as "the Eisners." This aware recognizes achievements each year in the comics industry.

I wonder what an original first edition of The Spirit comic book would go for? Will Eisner was one of the greats.
