Google AdSense logoEarlier this month, we reported signs of Google testing favicons on AdSense ads - the last time we saw tests on this was in 2005.

Well, now Google has officially announced that favicons on some text ads are the real deal. Google said:

Today we’re happy to share the introduction of favicons to our text ads. A favicon is a small graphic that an advertiser can use to brand their website, such as their company logo.

Here is a screen capture:

Google said you should expect a positive impact on user experience and publisher earnings.

The Adsense ads continue to become more and more ugly. I don't like how they center the text now and Google will often only put a single ad into a space that was designed to hold several ads.

It will convert better, hence the reasons why google didnt like it when people used to put their own icons next to the ads, they banned it because they believed it drew unnecessary attention to the ad listings and encouraged clicks................and now they are doing it them selves. Either way if it increases clicks i and my revenue i couldn't care what they do :)
