Did you know Google's SafeSearch filter is not set at a site level but rather a URL by URL basis? Google' John Mueller said so at the 39:30 mark into a video when he explained why a domain that was adult in nature is taking so long to be reclassified as not being adult.

John said for the SafeSearch filter "the reprocessing once it starts is done on a per URL basis." "You'll probably see some pages kind of be visible, I don't know in the near future, I'm guessing like week or so would probably be a reasonable time and the rest of the pages would kind of bubble up after that," he added.

In short, when you buy a domain that was adult oriented and Google labeled it as SafeSearch, it can take some time for Google to remove that classification.

Question:

So we had a reclassification request go through to the Google support team. And we got an email that said that we are our website justlegal.com was showing up under safe search but it's still not showing up there…

Answer:

Okay I I think I looked at that with the team on Monday or Tuesday. And they said this just takes a bit of time to actually viewing process. Especially if it's if it's a site that used to be adult content for a long time then this is something that that can take a couple of weeks to actually be reprocessed on our side. And from their point of view things are lined up properly. It's kind of categorized in the right way but it does take quite a bit of time to actually be reprocessed and the the reprocessing once it starts is done on a per URL basis. So you'll probably see some pages kind of be visible, I don't know in the near future, I'm guessing like week or so would probably be a reasonable time and the rest of the pages would kind of bubble up after that.
