Google Sms My Business

In July 2017 Google launched a messaging feature within the Google My Business platform. One of the options was to respond to messages via SMS, a text message. That is going away on November 15th and you will only be able to manages the messages via the Google My Business mobile app.

Joy Hawkins posted this news in the Local Search Forums. She wrote "Google stopped allowing businesses to set up Messaging via SMS quite some time ago but all the businesses that have Messaging already that set it up with SMS beforehand were still able to use this."

She received this email from Google on the topic, "On November 15, messaging will move from SMS to the free Google My Business app. This means you’ll no longer receive an SMS when customers reach out to you."

These messages went out around September 19th.
