Over the past week or so two different people shared with me on Twitter that Google is showing the query in the local pack, above the map embed. So not only is Google showing the query in the query box but also reinforcing that above the map pack.
I cannot replicate this myself, but here is a screen shot from @V_VipinYadav:

I find it to be a bit redundant and unnecessary to show the query there but hey, Google loves testing.
