Google Author Stats Goes Missing From Webmaster Tools

Google Author Stats LinkMysteriously, the link in Google Webmaster Tools to author stats has been removed.

Author Stats was introduced in December 2011 as a way to give authors a way to tracking impressions and clicks on their stories via Google Webmaster Tools.

Here is one of the reports given to authors:

click for full size

Now when you open up Google Webmaster Tools and clicks on the side bar navigation to see the various tools and reports, "author stats" seems to be no where found.

A WebmasterWorld thread spotted the issue last night. I am sure it is just temporary although, this feature never worked properly for me anyway.

Forum discussion at WebmasterWorld.

Update: Google's Pierre Far responded to me on Google+ about this issue saying it was removed. He said:

We've currently disabled the experimental Author stats feature in Webmaster Tools Labs as we work to fix a bug in the way stats are attributed.
