Programming Note: Rosh Hashanah 5775 : Offline Stories

Sep 24, 2014 - 4:10 pm 5 by

Google Rosh Hashanah DoodleTonight is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

Since I am Jewish and observant, I will be offline for the next two days. I do have stories scheduled to be posted over the next two days but those stories were pre-written and are not breaking new stories. We also have some poll stats to share with you.

I am a bit worried that Google will release Penguin 3.0 while I am offline and if so, I am sure you'll hear about it at Search Engine Land from either Danny Sullivan or Matt McGee. But being that it is now 11 months and 20 days since the last Penguin refresh, i.e. Penguin 2.1 or only 10 days until it is a full year since then (October 4th), I suspect it will happen any day now.

If it does happen while I am offline, I will catch up on that on Monday and give you the webmaster perspective a day or two late.

Anyway, for all you Jews out there, have a happy, healthy, successful and sweet new year!
