Google Star TrekGoogle has just uploaded to all their home pages (regional ones) the 46th Anniversary Star Trek Google Logo/Doodle.

Typically Google will load the logo on the anniversary day, so in the U.S., it would be when the clock strikes midnight tonight. New Yorkers would get it in about 12 hours, those in California would get it 3 hours after that. Australia would have had it for hours already.

But with some special logos, like this one, Google wants to give it more air time. So Google loaded it 12 hours before (NY Time) the true anniversary and will leave it up probably until Saturday night or who knows, maybe longer.

Here is a video of whole the logo works:

How incredibly cute and fun.

There aren't tons of ways to use this interactive Doodle but there are plenty.

Michelle Robbins, the VP of technology at Search Engine Land, wrote the story herself at SELand and named it Google Boldy Goes With Interactive Star Trek Doodle. She goes more into detail on that Doodle.

I bet there are even hidden easter eggs that in my two seconds at looking at it, I didn't catch.
