Google Search Console Launches Simplified AMP Testing Tool

Google launched a new AMP testing tool yesterday within the Google Search Console. You can access it at https://search.google.com/search-console/amp.

You basically plug in the AMP URL into the tool and let it run. I messed up and first plugged in my non AMP URL thinking it would auto detect the AMP canonical and use that, but it did not. So don't do what I did.

I was a bit nervous when I saw this:

Then I ran it again using the AMP URL and it was fine:

The cool part of this tool is that it gives you almost everything AMP related on one page.

  • You can get pass or fail
  • You get your failure errors both in summary and in the source code
  • You get an AMP preview look in the search results
  • You get access to your structured data items related to AMP
  • You get the documentation and more.

Of, and of course, it is all mobile friendly.
