Webmaster Complains About Panda But Scrapes Google Play Content

Google Play ScrapI am not sure if this is funny or really sad. I spotted a thread at the Google Webmaster Help forums where a webmaster was asking how can he recover from being hit by the Panda algorithm.

So Google's John Mueller recommends he create "unique, compelling, and high-quality content." But then he goes on so John takes a deeper look and asks why is he stealing and scraping the content off Google Play when it is against the terms of service of Google Play.

John said:

Additionally, it looks like you may be scraping the content from Google Play -- are you aware of the terms of service there? For example on http://play.google.com/about/terms.html it mentions "You agree not to access (or attempt to access) Google Play by any means other than through the interface that is provided by Google, unless you have been specifically allowed to do so in a separate agreement with Google. You specifically agree not to access (or attempt to access) Google Play through any automated means (including use of scripts, crawlers, or similar technologies) (...)"

I don't know if I find this sad or funny.

(1) Panda is made to take sites that are just repurposing content without adding any value add.

(2) This guy is taking Google's own content to try to rank.
