Yesterday, for a short period of time, Google Search Console was reporting pages as not being indexed and in the status of "Crawled - currently not indexed." The issue seemed to have been resolved within an hour or so and now John Mueller from Google confirmed what we all saw and called it a "short blip."
I was not going to cover it but I do see a bunch fo folks are still concerned about the bug, so I am just going to document and say it was a reporting bug only and is now resolved.
I first spotted this via Ryan Tree and Glenn Gabe on X where Ryan said, "are others reporting this? many of my client sites show as not indexed even though they are." Glenn Gabe spotted it too and wrote, "I see this too. Wow, something is off with Google right now. I'll ping Google about this. Homepages of sites are showing up as "Crawled, not indexed" but are definitely indexed."
I literally checked my own sites in Google Search Console minutes later and it was resolved, so I didn't cover it. Here are those tweets:

Both Ryan and Glenn confirmed it was fixed after I responded.
But Matthew Mellinger pulled in the data from the Search Console API at a bad time, when the bug happened, and his data shows a lot of these "Crawled, not indexed" status for URLs. I told him to rerun the report, here is his post on LinkedIn that says, "Woah! I'm seeing a large number of pages across a multitude of properties go from indexed to "Crawled - currently not indexed" today (especially on thinner or older pages). Like up to 20% of some smaller sites."
Anyway, John Mueller from Google confirmed the "small blip" saying on Bluesky this morning:
I double-checked with the team, and it was a short blip that was resolved quickly in the night (before these posts happened). It's good that it's easy to double-check things like the indexing of the homepage. Sorry for the confusion!
He also added before that:
Also, fwiw nothing breaks if indexing is working as expected & it's just reported differently, and it's easy for people to double-check their homepage, so I don't see this particularly critical. Not every potential issue is a fire worth dropping everything for.
