Unicode URLs May Have Issues In Bing

A Bing Webmaster Help thread has some users reporting issues on how Bing handles unicode URLs within Bing Webmaster Center and the robots.txt handling.

The webmaster in this case tested with both German and Russian URLs and said:

  1. In the index explorer, the URLs are messed up, see attached picture
  2. Excluding pages in robots.txt does not work - the URLs are percentage encoded there, see http://www.richard-fath.de/robots.txt
  3. Blocking the pages mentioned with item 2. in Webmaster Center does not help

Bing & Unicode URLs

So far, a Bing representative has yet to reply. Although other webmasters also chimed in to say they have similar issues.
