Does Google AdSense Images Ads Earn You More Money?

A WebmasterWorld thread has a note from an AdSense publisher that Google has reached out to him and many other publishers that they should try the image ad units in AdSense.

This particular publisher received an alert from Google that "at least 50% of pages are opted out of image ads and advising that opted in earn more revenues."

The response from the AdSense publisher community was overwhelming positive on the image ad units. One publisher, Netmeg, said:

I'm absolutely convinced that turning image ads back on greatly contributed to the fact that I'm at 280% of last year's earnings (with two months to go) And the click through rate was nearly twice what it was for text ads.

But others may not be so convinced...
