This has happened to me several times, I am told to visit a Google property and it turns all my Google properties (web search, gmail, etc.) into the language I just visited. For example, a Cre8asite Forum thread shows a woman who was stuck viewing French only in Google. She was desperate to switch back to the English results.
Want to get stuck using Google France? Do a search on seo and add &hl=fr to the end of the URL. Ah! How do you get back to the English results? Well, you can go back to Google.com, but sometimes that doesn't help. You can click on the link on the bottom of the Google Français homepage that reads, Google.com in English or you can once again append &hl=en the "en" for English to switch back.

Can't you just go to preferences and change it back? (Change "Interface Language") http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en I live in Québec, Canada and flip back regularly from English to French and that is how I do it. Also, I think you could clear browser cookies

I'm using Mozilla. I hit Tools, Options and Privacy. Then check the option that dumps cookies at shutdown. I had it set to accept cookies until they expired. Somehow it changed Google into Portuguese. Drove me nuts. It's all in the cookie set. I'd tell ya how to do it in Explorer but, after using Mozilla I'll never use explorer again. Hope this helps.

If you want to search Google in English you can just use Googleize at www.googleize.org. It's Google in English, United States. They also have an app on Facebook (apps.facebook.com/googleize). It'll solve all your problems once and for all. Google is beginning to act like some annoying girlfriend which doesn't resemble at all the one you fell in love with.

Google is rapidly becoming useless, as I now reside in Vietnam I frequently get Google pages in Vietnamese but require English. No amount of resetting preferences solves the problem. Currently having problem with Google Drive installation and any problems with Google products are shifted to a forum for other users to sort it out between themselves, only a few lucky ones get a response. Google have now overtaken Microsoft for the title of most useless support.
