Google Earth Meets Windows Live "Virtual Earth"
Extremely impressive release by Microsoft with Virtual Earth. It is basically a Google Earth product with "dramatic 3-D mapping" in your browser, as Greg Sterling reports. I personally tried installing it on Mac running Windows in Parallels but it did not take, due to video driver issues.
Because of that, I am borrowing one of Greg's pictures to show you the 'wow' factor of those 3D images.

The 3D images are only available in select areas of San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Detroit, Phoenix, Houston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and Fort Worth. Gary price has his thoughts on the mapping software here.
