Google: Want Featured Snippets, Try Using Schema Markup

In a Google+ hangout with John Mueller from a week or so ago, the first question asked was how can I get my really quality content web site content to show up in the features snippets. He called them "rich answer box," but I think he meant the featured snippets.

Featured snippets is where Google shows an answer using your content in the top most placement in the search results page.

John Mueller suggested that adding schema to your page may help Google understand your content a bit better and potentially help you show up in that box.

John said:

In general, it is important we are able to recognize the content properly on those pages. So using things like structured data markup could help us better figure out which parts of the page are actually content and which parts aren't.
