Apple iOS Maps Had Negative Impact On Google Maps Traffic Data?

Google Maps TrafficOver the years, I've grown to rely on Google Maps traffic data. It always seemed the most accurate and up to date from what else was out there.

That is because Google Maps crowdsourced users for their speeds and locations and used that data to improve traffic data. It worked well.

But since Apple has replaced Google Maps with iOS Maps, is Google crowdsourcing less and thus the traffic data is worse?

Honestly, I never thought Google was tracking iOS users but I can be wrong about that. I thought it was just Android users.

A Google Maps Help thread has one user complaining that traffic data is worse on Google Maps since Apple switched to their own mapping service. Again, if Google did not use Appel iPhone users data then what he is saying is wrong. He wrote:

Has anyone noticed less traffic info now that Apple has removed Google maps from iOS?

But if Google did crowdsource Apple users, then it would make a lot of sense.

Update: Google confirmed that they only crowdsourced traffic information for Android users and never from iPhone users. So this doesn't make sense that iOS switching to Apple Maps would impact traffic data in Google Maps.
