Upset boyfriends and girlfriends are nothing new. There are plenty of stories of girlfriends getting back at their ex-boyfriends for mistreatment and visa versa. But in the age where Google ranks supreme, you do not want to mess with a girl who knows how to manipulate Google.
One guy learned this the hard way.
Apparently, a disturbed ex-girlfriend took her ex-boyfriend's professional taken picture and polluted it all over Google Images for a search on his name. You can see the Google Image search spam yourself by clicking here or in the screen shot below:
There has to be dozens of the same image, all with little notes from the girl written all over them. I won't name the individual in text on this page (because I do not want the page to rank for his name) or the notes but it is a bit interesting to see upset ex-couples use Google Images as payback.
I suspect the images will be dropping out of Google shortly simply because it seems like the image sources have been removed from the servers they were hosted on.
As per the complaint thread started by the boy's mother at Google Webmaster Help, the mother was extremely upset about this. She said:
My minor son's ex-girlfriend took a copyrighted picture of him (we own copyright) and uploaded it more than 60 times to a website. On each image she wrote slanderous, defamatory and pornographic captions. The webmaster of the site states he removed the images 6 weeks ago, but Google Search still shows all the images. My son is so stressed out and embarrassed and we've done everything we can to get images off of Google including URL removal tool, a letter to Google Legal with all the URLs because of copyright infringement, and nothing has worked!
You see, she knew to have the source site remove the images but Google still has them in their index. The issue is that although the images appear to be gone, the URLs they are sourced via are actually returning a 200 status code, which to Google means they are still there. They need to return a page not found status code, and they do not.
Lesson? Before you upset your girlfriend or boyfriend, make sure they do not know how Google works. Oh, and never mess with an SEO.

Hmm.. Let’s see..seems like an awful lot of poor me articles coming out for the little boy by mommy all at once. Looks to me more like mommy is trying to bring attention to sonny boy instead of getting rid of these images she says he is so embarrassed of. Any intelligent person can read between the lines mommy. If I were a betting man, and I am, I would say 60 images..sonny boy is probably disliked by more people than a single girl. Sounds like a desperate attempt by a mother to bring attention to her son. if a guy did this to a girl he would probably be thrown in jail or sued - right? isn't that what happened to the guy who defamed some sort of seedy celebrity female with her photos recently? we really need some better guidelines for all this instead of just laughing it all off as in general it makes the web look rather stupid ie most sites just take any old thing automatically and never humanly review the content - so what is the real value of a site like that in the long run when over and over they prove vulnerable to spam and these type of posts? it may seem like nothing to some but in general it most likely is the reason why a real lot of people like social media as it seems to offer them some sort of trusted group where the bad guys can be reported and get thrown out faster then the wild wild world of the google paradigm - at least that may be the test of social medias real survival and ultimate dominant growth?

Too late Barry. The damage is done. By including his name in the image (you could have blurred the text) you encouraged and allowed a comment on your post to include his name 6 times. That helped get your site a #1 ranking for a search of the boy's name as of last night. Thanks to your post, your story is being picked up and echoed on several other sites. This poor kid's embarrassment is growing because you didn't care enough to protect his identity. You need to put yourself in his shoes (and you should do that very soon!!). Imagine if embarrassing images of you or those you loved wound up plastered on Google Image search. You'd feel like people (such as, in this case, you) who helped exacerbate this problem would be held accountable. You would be very wise to delete this entire thread.

Yes, sometimes it's difficult to return the code Google wants to remove a URL because often you have pages tangled up with cryptic htaccess and PHP parameters that need to be rewritten. And that's just to get out of Google, there's Yahoo and Bing too. It takes time but there are ways to get things removed ;-)

Is this responsible journalism? Is it even journalism? Do you have any idea what kind of tragic conclusion could result from your desire to boost your blog numbers? I've read your articles in the past Mr. Schwartz and for the most part I've found them educational and informative, but this one makes zero sense to me. Knowing that the situation involves a teenager who is admittedly emotionally stressed, you couldn't post your article and achieve your goal with the young man's name omitted? Many of the readers on here have posted the same opinion as me, so please stop hiding behind "the mother posted his name" excuse. You didn't need to include it, wrong is wrong. Hopefully this nightmare will eventually disappear for the young man and his family. You should help the process and take this down. You know better, shame on you.

This is an SEO blog. This is the first time I have seen an example of an upset girlfriend spam Google Images this way. It is a good example for SEOs. It is not about the pageviews. If you look, you will noticed I noindexed this page and it should be removed soon from the index. In fact it is removed already http://www.google.com/search?q=http://www.seroundtable.com/boyfriend-spammed-12909.html The point is to show how unique this was in terms of spamming Google. This is not a gossip blog, it is an SEO blog. I have very strict rules in what I do or do not post. As I said in my rules, anything posted in a PUBLIC forum is fair game. If it is public, it is public. Here are my guidelines http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/002457.html I do not see why you blame me for bringing this to the public. It was out there already in a public forum, not password protected, or anything.
JB
02/06/2011 03:06 pm
I will not follow your blog if you feel for whatever reason you cannot and will not protect the already infringed upon rights of those (including minors and adults) in the stories you post to further your work. You can protect them not through technology and "indexes", but rather by not posting the article at all. Or maybe you write your own article and site a few examples of which you remain general and vague to protect people you don't know who are involved in situations with nuances you will never know. Also, "Public Record" is not Google, it's a legal agreement that an adult enters into where they forego their rights to certain privacies. This is gossip and you are spreading it. I think you know this but instead feel that being defensive is a better practice that owning up to it. The fact is that the situation these people are in does not reflect your work and is beneath you.
Barry Schwartz
02/06/2011 03:25 pm
Did you read my response above? To answer your specific points: (1) The post is not in Google anymore. (2) I removed the boys name but showed the example given by the mother in the PUBLIC Google help forum. (3) I cannot show vague or general cases here, this is the first time I have seen anything like this and since a real example was given in a public forum, I shared it. (4) I care less about the gossip, which is why I never posted the boy's name in text here. I also removed the post from Google. I have no interest in ranking for his name. I want to share this example with SEOs and heck, I even wanted Google to see it to drop the results from Google. If you have been reading me for a long time, you will know that I had no ill will. It was a few people who tried to post his name in the comments that caused this post to rank. They wanted to hurt the boy. I wanted to share a unique and interesting example of Google Image Search spam. That is all. I honestly did not think it would get this much attention. I am shocked. Knowing that it did get so much attention, I am not sure what I would have done differently. But hindsight... you know. Again, I had no intention to hurt anyone with this post. Just uncover the SEO value here. You cannot say SEOs did not learn from it.
billsom
02/06/2011 03:38 pm
You could have been just as effective at showing a "good example for SEOs" by publishing the same article with the young man's name/link absent. Whether on a public forum or not, you had the choice to write your article without the links that identified the kid. You made the wrong choice and now you have the choice to do the moral thing. Stop participating, take down "Payback: Upset Ex-Girlfriend Spams Boyfriend In Google Images" and I believe you'll not only retain the respect and loyalty of your followers, but gain scores of new ones!
Barry Schwartz
02/06/2011 04:11 pm
No, I didn't have other examples to show. That is what I am explaining. So I showed what was posted in a public forum. If it wasn't public, if she would have emailed me or called me, I would never have written about it. I do not think I made an immoral or wrong choice. I am sorry. I feel bad, so I made sure this post won't show in Google. I am in touch with members of the family. I am working with them to reduce the hurt as much as possible.

Oh, brother! A holier than thou attitude. It is an unsubstantiated allegation the guy is a minor. 2. I dont think this bloggers success at his craft is dependent on you censoring him. He has freedom of speech and you have the freedom to shut your holy pie hole and go elsewhere. 3. Are you an editor? You are trying to tell him how he can write his own blog? He doesnt tell you how to read! 4. This girl was quite piissed. Maybe he DID do something cruel to deserve it. Maybe not. I do know that if a guy did it she would get plenty of sympathy and he would be considered a schmeckel. 5. This is a public service he is providing as a cautionary tale for both sides.

About the status code - a lot of websites will produce error pages with a status code of 200, instead of the appropriate status. Pro tip to web coders - not everything making requests to your web site is a human capable of reading and comprehension; they could be all sorts of software e.g spiders, feed readers/aggregators, etc. The status code allows software to understand in broad terms what happened with the request and how to treat it.

[rolls eyes...] Yeah, right. Because women are a bunch of chauvinistic pigs who have been discriminating against men for centuries. Just ask any husband-beater. Or, one of the millions of women who have assaulted and raped a helpless, defenseless man. Or, beaten up an old man just to snatch his wallet with a few bucks in it because they needed drug money. Or, who didn't hire or promote a man because he was...well, a man. And a man's place is in the home, barefoot in the kitchen.

Actually, the photographer's work is a work-for-hire, which means that the person who hired him has the claim to copyright. The photographer only has a claim to copyright if the person who hired him signed a contract giving the photographer those rights. This is in addition to the subject's claim to copyright on his own image.
Anon
02/07/2011 01:23 pm
No, more often than not it doesn't fall under 'work for hire so the person who paid for it gets the copyright'. It's a state by state thing, but if we're talking a professional photography studio or a fellow on craigslist, unless they sign a document *saying* it was work for hire it stays with the photog.
Anon
02/07/2011 01:26 pm
No, wrong. Unless they have an agreement stating the photographers copyright was transferred, it stays with the photographer. This is not 'hire a web programmer on craigslist' it's studio photography (even hire a photographer on craigslist doesn't fall under work for hire unless there's a contract stipulating it.)
Benny
02/07/2011 02:51 pm
Don't you think that if they're getting a professional photog to take the pics the point WAS to get copyright on the pics so they can distribute? These don't look like family pics, but porfolio pics. In which case, they intend to distribute, and would get the copyright. She probably DOES have copyright, and as far as her son having it too, I'm sure he's in agreement with whatever he says, and if he's a minor, does it matter?

I believe both FacoBook and Twitter have absolutely horrendous and tyrannical control over the images you upload to them... as in they're not yours because you gave up your copyright to them. That's why some professional photographers refuse to use FaceBook and twitter.
A Photographer
02/07/2011 03:46 pm
As a photographer who works extensively with copyright law -- you do not understand copyright law. Unless the photographer EXPLICTLY releases rights (reproduction, ownership, resale, non-commercial, whatever else) the PHOTOGRAPHER is the ONLY person who has ANY rights over the photos. Just because a photographer takes your picture and gives it to you doesn't mean you have any rights to do anything other than possess THAT physical photograph. Any decent photographer will explain the subject's rights PRIOR to shooting. The majority of the time I release (through signed contract) the non-commercial reproduction rights to the subject. They can reuse the photos for their facebook, myspace, et al... but they can't go off and sell them to a magazine or have them featured in another publication.

Sort of.. copyright is federal if the copyright owner registers the copyright with the federal copyright bureau. The purpose of this federal institution is precisely to allow copyright owners to avoid needing to pursue copyright violation and related damages in all 50 states. If the work is registered with the federal gov, the copyright fight happens in federal court, once for all 50 states. That's the whole reason to register the copyright for your work with the federal government. Copyright is granted automatically to whomever creates the work, unless they sign the copyright away to someone else. However without federal registration, you have gigantic battle ahead of you to collect whatever is due to you by copyright violators. If no agreements are signed, the photographer absolutely owns copyright. However what he can do with the photos depends on whether or not he obtained a model release. If there's a person or someone's property in the photo, without a release, he can't sell it.

The boy is a minor. I bet the girl is a minor too. The legal system won't do much to her. You know the name of the guy, but you do not know the name of the girl. Post her photos, post her name, no defamation, present facts, make her deed known. This would level the playing field, at the very least. At most, her school officials find out, and she would get expelled. Makes for a very nice payback.

LIBELOUS SLANDER - SLANDER A false defamation (expressed in spoken words, signs, or gestures) which injures the character or reputation of the person defamed; distinguished from libel. The defaming a man in his reputation by speaking or writing words which affect his life, office, or trade, or which tend to his loss of preferment in marriage or service, or in his inheritance, or which occasion any other particular damage. In England, if slander be spoken of a peer, or other great man, it is called Scandalum Magnatum. Falsity and malice are ingredients of slander. Written or printed slanders are libels.

Thin skinned? Maybe. But the kid and his mom should sue. The girlfriend has publicly humiliated him, and it is indeed slander. False labeling and accusations that ruin a person's reputation are slander. If everyone just turns a blind eye to this kind of behavior, every smart-a** kid who gets spurned by a boyfriend, girlfriend, or just anybody, will feel free to use the internet to ruin people on a whim. In this case, it will probably amount to nothing. The pictures will probably fade from internet circulation. But what if they don't? What if that kid goes to a job or school interview, and the people there remember his picture and have an odd opinion of him because of it? This really is serious stuff. It can hurt him in a lot of ways, and the stupid girlfriend needs to learn that (and so does everybody else). I say sue her.

You had the name, Barry, you could have tried contacting the young man or his family to see if they'd rather not be the means of blowing up your web traffic. You could have even checked with them to see if you got the facts straight. How do you know it was his mother who wrote the posting? Do you think maybe that makes your version of these events "funny" as you say in your podcast? What if his father wrote the post? Every site that has picked this story up is using your version of these events as fact, yet you verified nothing, I'll bet.

They think it is acceptable to sue the school district instead of disciplining the little brat. Its fucking pathetic and makes me sick. He could have easily blown this off or even retaliated but no, his over bearing sorry excuse of a mother is probably going to take this to court and scar the girls life over some trivial bullshit.

The story is not about a specific name or kid. It was about the spam I saw in Google Image Search. Showing that example is interesting. I like how you quoted my video. I assume you saw my face when I said that. Go watch it and see how I said "funny." I said it with the implication that the girlfriend found it to be "funny" but I found it "childish" as I said in my video. Like I said, it is an example of Google Image search spam I have never seen before. The example was given, I cited it for SEOs to see. I didn't think the gossip blogs would pick it up. I care less about pageviews but say what you want. Again, I do not need to verify the "story" behind how the images got there. All I care about is that they got there and I showed where they came from. This is an SEO site, not a gossip site. I quoted the thread and shared the facts of spam in Google. I don't care if it was his mother or the girlfriend. It doesn't change the SEO facts.

The picture is still here on your page. You've provided a link so that anyone can run the search themselves and see the intentionally hurtful images for themselves. I'm going to quote the info entered in iTunes on your Friday podcast, you tell me what conclusion one is supposed to draw: "This week was an interesting week in the search space, we had Google telling on Bing for cheating and a girlfriend spamming her boyfriend on Google - too much fun." Care to tell us what your face looked like when that was typed up? Don't be a hypocrite, you thought it was a funny story, so you ran it and promoted it as funny, don't try to squirm out from underneath your words now. You're right when you say you didn't think the gossip sites would pick this up. I'm not sure I can find evidence here you were thinking at all. You don't know what went on between them. The mom probably went about it on her own. Or maybe the young man doesn't know the proper avenues to fight for himself legally. That's what parents are supposed to do. They are supposed to guide you through life's mazes when you are young so that you can do it on your own when you are older. This boy probably has no experience in the judicial system and maybe his parents do. What's wrong with them wanting to help. If a guy did this to me, not only would my mom be pissed, but my dad would personally give him a swift and hard a**-kicking! And I'm much older than this kid! Good parents always want to protect their children. It doesn't mean the children can't also protect themselves.

I concede part of this -I don't know what went on. I also do not appreciate being called a "crack baby" -much too old for that. My point is that this is between two individuals who are probably both minors, therefore on equal footing. And I was always taught to fight my own battles between my peers and never go home to cry to my parents. I, too, am MUCH older than this kid. Good parents always want to protect their kids, but protecting them, though not wrong, does not always help or prepare them for the real world. "Shit Happens" as the saying goes, and there isn't always someone there to hold your hand. Had great parents and I am not jaded, just always taught to be self-relient.

Whatsamatta_CantRead The article quoted the 'mommy' as saying that he was her MINOR son, which means he's a kid and not a legal adult. Either you aren't aware that a mother/parent/legal guardian has the right to speak for a minor, or you didn't read the complete article. As for the revenge thing, it's a good bet he probably deserved it.

Totally! Because killing someone--taking someone's life--for the heinous act of overreacting to a bad breakup and spamming the ex's photo with some insulting captions on it is such a sensible and just thing to do. Maybe we should have her tortured, raped and let her slowly starve to death. Because, yeah, that's what morally upstanding citizens should expect. Hell, maybe stone her or crucify her her or feed her to piranhas.

Such brilliant observations from such a prolific scribe. I read your inane amateurish ramblings on your website. Where do YOU get off criticizing this guy who is apparently just the victim of a vengeful ex-gf and didn't ask for this attention? How does he "deserve what he got" in your feeble mind? Who the fuck are you? It's weird to me why such a gifted writer as yourself would waste time commenting on a non-story that appears in a forum for SEO. What a waste of skin.

I won't be berated or criticized by someone without the guts to use their real name and/or photograph. I don't take the self-righteous all-mighty tone of importance that you and your various pseudonyms on this thread do. This is 2011, as if anyone needed a reminder. That means it's not 1911 and the chick had to do any legwork to get the job done. It's hilarious, is what it is. I don't remember where I read about it. Maybe Wired or something. But I come here and I see all these jokers getting hyphie about nothing. Do I feel bad for the kid? No. Why should I? If you did some real research you'd see that I've been berated in lengthy posts on high-traffic websites time and again. This doesn't lead me to change my name or involve my beleaguered mother. Anyway, the kid looks like a douche. The girl didn't just do it for no reason, and even if she did, the kid LOOKS like a douche, which was my only observation. How did he deserve it? Why, he gave her access to it and he was alive in 2011. What more do you need to deserve some humiliation in the era of open doors?

Hey Barry, why would you automatically assume it was the young man's mother? How many mothers of a teenager do you know that can navigate Google forums? Maybe it was a father protecting his son. Since you don't seem to know or have the facts from a source, (unless you do have confirmation it was Mom and you just haven't been forthcoming with it) you might have brought even more senseless ridicule to an already volatile situation. Even though you're not an actual journalist Barry, shouldn't you at least check your facts before publishing irresponsibly? I could be wrong of course, but since you indicated it was his Mom, which provoked scores of posts slamming her for protecting her teenage son (and I ask, what mother wouldn't?), please feel free to at least confirm your statement is factual.
Barry Schwartz
02/08/2011 02:59 pm
Like I said before. It is not about the mother or the kid. The reason I posted was about the spam. The spam was there in Google Image Search. I showed a screen shot of it. I showed the search results. To me, the part of if it was or was not the mother is irrelevant to the typical reader of this site. Of course, this article is getting way more attention than beyond the SEO industry. But that is something I could not have anticipated.

These were clearly put through the meme generator. I HIGHLY doubt any google manipulation is being done. More is going on here than meets the eye, for one, who searches for their own image in "google images"? On top of that, who tags their images with said query's name? I would go out on a limb and say that these were uploaded into the memegenerator probably as a joke and then became a lightning rod-mostly due to the boys 1980s dress. Too many questions unanswered to believe the angry girlfriend story.

I hardly believe anything I see on the net these days. I have noticed deterioration of goodwill since PPC came. People will do anything to get money. The other day a friend of mine had a serious toothache and needed urgent treatment 24/7 Dental but his pain got even worse because of the amount of time he had to spend trying to find a Dentist open on a Sunday evening. All the results he was given was stuff done by SEO's who had been targeting those keywords but not giving actual information on any reputable company who could offer those services. Oh well!

It's not women, it's certain types of human beings, both male and female. Men have behaved like lunatics, too, plenty of times throughout history. So you had a bad experience with one woman. Many women have had bad experiences with one man. That's life. Your job is to be smart enough to recognize when someone isn't quite sane or safe BEFORE you get involved with her. If you can't do that, you need professional help. But don't tar all women with the same brush. That would be as stupid as a woman's claiming that all men were sons of bitches on the basis of one or two bad experiences.

This is just one of many examples of how the Internet has destroyed privacy; past, present and future. Personal business is now the whole world's business and it violates common decency. Time-passing and one's physical location used to ensure a good deal of privacy. Drones who say some things are "public record anyhow" do not get the point. The EASE with which information can be disseminated is highly unnatural.

Good point. People who hang out with fakes and psychos have only themselves to blame after awhile. You have to keep your survival instincts and pay attention to the signs. I'd say there's more abuse from the male to female direction than vice versa, though women can be emotional volcanoes without warning. Usually it's low self esteem or outright misandry.

Your opinions are so very wrong. There is a greater amount of anonymity now than in the past. Just look at how sensationalized someone's life has to become before they garner the smallest amount of attention. A right to privacy is not something that has ever existed in human history...at least not until the U.S. Supreme Court created it in the 1970s. So complain all you like about Libel or Slander in the Information Age, but its not going anywhere, its been around for millenia. Fortunately for victims today people are far more cynical than in the past.

Damn straight! when Women abuse man it is usually just the make her feel better about herself or just outright misandry. While there is more abuse from men to women, it doesn't come from misogyny or the man trying to make himself feel better, practically all of male on female abuse is justified use of punishment, all be it the men is using the wrong type of punishment. In general, the extensive research on rape myths shows that male and female victims tend to be perceived in accordance with gender stereotypes. For instance, male victims tend to incur blame when they fail to adhere to the male stereotype (ie, being in control, unemotional, and able to fend off attack), whereas female victims incur blame according to specific characteristics (ie, if they were perceived as passive, vulnerable, or sexual). http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/528821_2

"Pancake Nipples"? At least if you're going to play the "at least I have a sense of humor" card, make sure it's funny. Youtube trollies are funnier than this girl. The comments show how dumbed down the modern net audience's sense of humor is: The "ICANHAZCHEEZBURGER?" font is this generation's canned laughter cue-card and APPLAUSE sign. There is no way that this is the first time this has been done, just probably the first time the public has picked up on it and put out a story. Change just a couple elements of the story and we'd have this pop up elsewhere under "Cyberbullying" with the usual comment trolls calling his sexuality and "manhood" into play (unless of course it was a female, then they'd go after her looks) - the two go-to arguments of low class buzzards who think this entitles them pros when it comes to their own manhood in which the excel only in stroking. This isn't just a Facebook profile (like those featured in most 'cyberbully' pieces), this might be bounced along long enough for future employers, friends, and girlfriends to be turned off -- regardless of how irrelevant it actually would be in a realistic context.

Detente only works when people understand MAD. In this case, escalation might occur, since the action was well over-the-top. The lesson is not, "Before you upset your girlfriend or boyfriend, make sure they do not know how Google works," but rather, "Don't seek out silly retribution. It might cost you your life." Smart people remain quiet, and take things as a learning experience. Stupid people play tit-for-tat. Which do you prefer?

How many national offices do women have dedicated to their health again??? 10 men have 0, which gender constantly gets away with crime? google "Judged bashes Probation Department for gender bias in favor of leniency for girls" Yes but those poor oppressed dears. Oh and according to a certain law (affirmitive action) the woman is hired over a similarly qualified man..but im sure you being the super mangina that you are see no problem with that or any of the issues ive typed huh

Good grief - way to put me in my place without putting me in my place. Am I an immature little shit or that boring dick that everyone knows? I can't be both. There is nothing elitist or clever about my previous post. Where is your 'big person' contribution to this discussion? Twitter is that-a-way, sug... now fill up my coffee. lololol! Is that better?

Yeah Barry, don't worry that your story will probably cause this poor kid years of therapy and force him to change his name. That's not really important ... what's important is that you wrote a piece that tells the SEO community exactly nothing about how to prevent this from happening to them or to their clients. In the end, the only true measure of editorial success is the number of comments your story generates and from the looks of it, this one hit it out of the park ... so, yeah, great job!

It's no more Google's fault that she posted these images than it is Glock's fault for creating a gun magazine that can hold over 30 rounds of ammunition when used to wipe out a crowd of people in Tucson. But unlike Glock who has no ability to do anything about this after the fact, Google does. Google can take down the images from their search index and fix this but they choose not too out of some stupid notion of not "censoring the Internet" (except of course if you participate in a link building scheme - which we all know is an unforgivable crime for which you must be banished from the search results.) Google should be embarrassed. This makes what Bing did look like child's play. At least Bing's image results don't have this problem.

If being mildly embarrassed on the internet forces one into years of therapy, then he and everyone else is in for a rough century.

"mildly embarrassed"?!?! If you think that's the extent of what happened, then you're pretty clueless and you really should just keep your mouth shut. You can speak again when your name and picture has been mocked on countless Internet news sites and blogs. Oh, and you have to be a teenager too AND everyone who knows you has to know about this ... and it doesn't count if this happens to you as an adult. Yes, we are in for a rough century. We have sacrificed our common decency in the name of free speech and we no longer "care" about what happens to whom.

Dude, you don't know a thing about me and my experiences, so you can take your judgement and stuff it. And unless I missed something, I don't need your permission to speak. Here, I have an extra clue that I can lend you... Yes, having naughty words written on pictures of you by an ex-girlfriend posted on the internet counts as mild embarrassment. It sucks for awhile, it becomes old news, you get over it, then it becomes a fun story you tell at parties. If you date more than a couple people since the advent of the internet, this kind of thing is doing to happen. Would he rather she keyed it into his car? Hell, the images are already gone from the image search. It's just part of life and he can either man-up and get over it or cry about it a bunch. Neither is going to change the facts and the latter is likely to just embarrass him further. Which is all you're doing by crying for him.

No you don't need my permission to speak. Free speech. I get it. Say whatever the hell you want. And I really didn't expect you to see things from any point of view other than your own. So you just dig in and own those opinions. They're all yours.
