Susan Hallam

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Susan Hallam currently lives in the City of London but was born in Philadelphia. Her husband and her children work in the same space as she does, in digital marketing. In fact, her husband is the Commercial Director of her agency, her son is a Search Marketing Specialist for Screen Pilot in Denver, Colorado and her daughter manages the digital presence as part of their responsibility as assistant manager of Blue Orchid Resort in the Philippines. She even told me her dog is a hard worker in the digital marketing space.

Susan speaks about the industry, tactics and tips, she writes articles and shares information on Twitter and other social networks. She is super generous with her time and her knowledge. She has helped countless individuals in our space over the past few decades.

Sarah Courbet nominated Susan and wrote:

I met Susan years ago and I have had the pleasure of working with her across a number of clients for many years. She is an inspirational lady who always amazes me with her knowledge. She has built a hardworking and friendly company where everyone seems to delight in coming to work. Not only is she an inspiration but she has time to mentor and help. The fact that she is a dog owner who is often to be seen in the offices just adds to her appeal.

Susan Hallam Bio: Susan is Managing Director of Hallam Internet. a full service agency based in Nottingham, UK employing more than 50 digital marketing specialists. Formerly a Senior Lecturer in Computing at Nottingham Trent University, Susan held senior digital marketing roles at British Telecom and Capital One before setting up her own agency in 1999. She speaks at conferences including SMX London, SMX Milan, and ClickSummit.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? Remember, to be a successful SEO you need to be a bit of a gambler. You can't control SEO. You never know when the SEO rules are going to change. And so you have to thrive on uncertainty, be delighted when a gamble pays off, and most importantly remember successful SEO's aren't lucky. When people tell me I'm lucky, I tell them "the harder I work, the luckier I get." Don't be afraid of hard work.

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? I would like to be remembered for delivering ethical SEO campaigns that delivered great results for clients who love to work with me. And for creating one of the UK's leading agencies that continues to deliver that promise every day to every client.

You can learn more about Susan at her company site and follower her Twitter or connect with her on LinkedIn.
