Google Webmaster Support Challenges From A Googler

Google Webmaster Support Phone CallsJohn Mueller, a Google Webmaster Trends Analyst shared on of the more frustrating aspects of his job on Google+.

It seems like he noticed a site was hacked and he tried several different ways to notify the webmaster or site owner of the hack and was unsuccessful. Why? Well, he told the story pretty well.

If your business has a website and ....
- your contact form uses a broken captcha, and
- you prefer not showing an email address on your website, and
- your domain name's whois email address bounces

... then I'd recommend not writing about how to secure Joomla, and letting your site get hacked.

You'd imagine this is pretty common with websites, wouldn't you?

John goes on to explain that even if you do make contact, they often don't believe you. John said:

At some point, I usually just let it be... Calling someone up is always tricky; with the timezones, finding the right person, then making it clear that you're not some random salesman or spammer, and finally getting them to believe you is very time-consuming. That last part (getting them to believe you) is sometimes particularly hard, even when I send it with my google.com email address.

I can see this being frustrating. Trying to help someone but no way to get in touch and if you do get in touch, they just think you are crazy.
