Google Logo For John James Audubon

Today on the home page of Google is a special birthday logo for the 226th birthday of John James Audubon.

John James Audubon was born on April 26, 1785 in Les Cayes, Saint-Domingue and died on January 27, 1851 in Manhattan, New York at the age of 65.

He was a French-American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter mostly known for his paintings of birds.

As you can see from the Google logo, his style of paintings were around birds. This specific logo is around his Birds of America paintings and illustrations. The book was a series published between 1827 and 1838, in Edinburgh and London. It consisted of hand-coloured, life-size prints, made from engraved plates, measuring around 39 by 26 inches.

I really liked it, although with some of these more elaborate versions you cannot really distinguish the original logo anymore... But you still know it's Google, so I think it is a bif of a point of how much you can push the creative boundaries and keep it relevant.
