Wavy Gradient Wide Google

In May, Google announced that they will strip down your web pages for users on mobile devices with slow connections. Back then, they gave a sample URL of how it will work.

But now, Google launched it and it seems to be powered off the URL GoogleWebLight.com.

Ben Pfeiffer noticed it in his web logs and posted an example on a large site via Twitter.

You can see that this original URL at www.huffingtonpost.com was then converted to a URL at googleweblight.com with the light weight version of that heavier page.

Here is a partial screen grab:

Ben said, "Just seen Google Weblight appear in my analytics for the first time today. US or International referral." He later on told me it came from India.

Pretty cool but as you can imagine, many publishers are nervous this will take away from their ad impressions.
