google doodle pollA couple months ago I ran a poll asking Webmasters, advertisers and SEOs if they felt Google logos resulted in less traffic.

Think about it, a searcher goes to Google with a question. Then Google distracts the searcher from their original question and they end up playing guitar or PacMan or just clicking on the Doodle and reading the search results.

For sites like this, it doesn't make a difference, in fact - sometimes it leads to nice traffic. But for typical e-commerce sites and information sites, do you notice declines in traffic on days Google posts special Google logos, aka Doodles.

Take our poll, which currently has only 70 votes:

I actually have benefited, significantly, more than once from these Google logos, and also from Bing's homepage image links as well. The most recent time, I blogged about it in some detail. http://www.websitepublisher.net/blog/2011/02/08/google-jules-verne-and-me/
