Last month we reported on a bug with the index count in the Sitemaps reports within the Google Search Console. That bug was resolved days later but it seems a new bug may have surfaced.

Gary Illyes said on Twitter that a new bug has been found there. He said there is a "problem with reporting the number of indexed URLs in the SC Sitemaps feature," but the good news is that they are working on fixing it.

Truth is, I've seen very few complaints on this topic. So I am not sure either (a) how recognizable the issue is and/or (b) is everyone or only a small percentage of Search Console users are impacted by it.

I did see some complaints around the index count, specifically from @webrankinfo asking if the index count bug from a month ago was fixed yet. But he said himself that he has no issue but I guess it triggered Google to look into something?

Here is what Gary said on Twitter:

Again, I am not really seeing widespread complaints about this in the various Google help areas.
