Bing LogoYesterday at the Apple WWDC event, which you can watch over here if you missed it, Apple showcased the new Spotlight feature in their preview of OSX, codenamed Yosemite.

Spotlight will be using Bing as the backup search feature built into Apple's core search feature.

Here is the slide that mentions Bing as a third party source for Spotlight:

Obviously, clicking on a web result will instead take you to Bing in your web browser, as opposed to Google, as how it works right now.

On the OS X Preview page it also highlights Bing's role in Spotlight:

And Bing said so in their 5 year birthday post, that Bing "powers Siri and Spotlight in the new OSX to help find answers."

So not only did DuckDuckGo win, Bing won even more. The loser here, Google.
