Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • BingBot Arrives: Microsoft's New Crawler
The folks over at WebmasterWorld have just started noticing Microsoft's new spider arriving. As expected, the new spider is named BingBot. BingBot will still obey all the rules of its predecessor, MSNBot, but now has a fancy new name. The original announcement said this would happen on October 1, 2010, so we are a day or two early. Here is one sample find in a webmaster's log files: 207.46.195.227 Tue Sep 28 20:24:15 2010 "GET
  • Google's The Flintstones Logo
September 30th, tomorrow, is The Flintstones 50th birthday or anniversary. Google has a special worldwide logo for The Flintstones for the special birthday. The logo (aka doodle) is fantastic! Forum discussion at Google Blogoscoped Forums.

John from Google explained why a negative post might not rank well for a search on a founder's name: If for instance, your

  • Google Hiding Search Result Pages: Removes Pagination
There are several reports from users that Google has removed the page 2 and so on from the bottom of the Google search results. That is right, Google, for some users, has removed the option to go to a second page of results and the pagination is all gone.
