Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Google Delays Payments To Publishers Yet Another Month
Since early January, AdSense publishers have been complaining that they have not received payment in multiple months. In fact, Google confirmed the issue and said they are "taking this issue seriously." In early February, Google promised those delays will stop and these publishers would get paid at the end of the month, in February. Google said then, "to be noted the holds removed between January 15 and February 15 will be reflected in payments issued
  • European Google AdSense Publishers Not Happy About Exchange Rate
The exchange rate and how it plays in the Google AdSense space for non-USA based publishers is a big deal, especially these days. We cover it often enough, including times where Google outright made huge mistakes and when the rates seemed unfair at times. The latest thread on the topic comes from WebmasterWorld where a European publisher said he just received payment, but that payment seemed way off. He said Google gave him an exchange
  • Not Ranking? Change Your Name Says French Town Mayor
French town of Eu to change name because of Google searches from the Telegraph is getting a lot of attention. In short, a town named Eu is considering changing their name, because they feel they have a hard time ranking for their name in Google, due to it being "eu" and thus feel they are losing out on tourism. Let me quote you part of the article: Marie-Françoise Gaouyer, the local mayor, now has two
  • Google March 2009 PageRank Update or Glitch?
Over the weekend, I have seen tons and tons of threads in several forums with webmasters and SEOs complaining that their PageRank score in the Google Toolbar took a dive. I will just list two threads, because I cannot list all of them. There is a thread at DigitalPoint Forums and Google Webmaster Help. The thing is, I didn't see anyone happy with the new PageRank score they received. If you look closely at the
  • IM Charity Party Comes Back to SES New York - March 23rd
Search Engine Strategies is just three weeks away now and that means the IM Charity Party will be raising funds for those in need. The party will take place at Heartland Brewery in Union Square, New York. It happens on March 23rd, starting at 8pm and goes until midnight. This party is open to anyone who donates $50 to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. To donate, go to IMCharityParty.com and click on "buy tickets." You can
  • Ask.com Crosses The Line: Frames Search Results
Ask.com has gone too far. I have given them a lot of negative attention recently but they deserve it all. They are now framing the landing page of the search results. Let me rephrase that... If you search at Ask.com, click on a listing, Ask.com will put the result in a frame, below their search results. Here is a picture, notice the bar at the top: Want to see it for yourself?
