Google Listing Lest Search Results: No More 1,000 Results?

Nov 8, 2007 - 7:13 am 0 by

A WebmasterWorld thread reports that Google, on some data centers, is showing less results per search than it has done in the past.

For example, a search on news returns 742 results, as opposed to showing up to 1,000 results. Here is a screen capture:

Google Cutting Down Results

Notice how it is showing up to 742 results, and only going up to page 75. Google has typically shown 1,000 results, up to page 100 for very generic queries.

If you don't see this yourself, try searching on this data center and you should see it today.

Of course, this has little to do with SEO. I don't know anyone who gets traffic from their site being displayed on the 987th result in Google. But this is an interesting finding anyway.
